My Tips on How to Start Before You are Ready

To start before you are ready, you have to be honest and transparent with yourself. No one is going to achieve your dreams for you, and probably no one is going to care if you don’t. It’s just the truth. I’ve found that being honest and transparent with myself has propelled me to realize even more dreams than I ever knew I had. We have to start before we are ready, do things scared, have some courage, and carry on. If we don’t, we pay the price. And that price is living with the agony of never fully living our lives to the fullest. Instead we are more comparable to being lifeless, going through the motions, doing the bare minimum and remaining stagnant. Unbeknownst to us we are lost, because we are not heading in the right direction and maybe even no direction at all according to our dreams.

We all tell ourselves the same lie far too often. That lie is that we have more time. We don’t really, and we don’t know what each new day will bring or even if we will be granted one. Since I’ve quit telling myself this lie over the past year, I’ve accomplished more toward my dreams than I ever have before. You could say that I am a dreamer. I’ve always had an endless list of dreams, goals, and aspirations. In case you guessed it, the Start Going Further website was one of them. I dreamed of being able to one day call myself a “blogger”. That one day didn’t come until I decided to start before I was ready.

What dreams do you have that remain untouched? Does your heart get an achey feeling if you aren’t aligned toward these dreams? For me the feeling of risk that comes with going toward my dreams has been far better than the aching feeling and agony that comes with choosing complacency. Start before you are ready because you must. Because your dreams depend on it. Because if you don’t, you are ultimately wasting this one life on Earth that we have been given.

Have belief in yourself and know that your dreams are your dreams for a reason. I believe we all have a purpose, and unique strengths that align us toward our best selves. So how did I start before I was ready?

  1. Start Going Further
Achieving your dreams and becoming your best self requires you to Start Going Further. You have to do more and go the extra mile or two consistently. Going Further is truly my mantra in life.
  2. Take a few First Steps to gain Momentum
Sometimes a big dream stops us in our tracks because we can’t wrap our heads around how we will ever accomplish it. Instead, take a few first steps to gain momentum. What is one small thing you can do right now to propel you forward?
  3. View Setbacks and Stumbling Blocks as Learning Opportunities
Many times setbacks and stumbling blocks can lead to us giving up on ourselves. Instead, view these as learning opportunities. They are just a part of the journey, and a part of the story in you achieving your dream.
  4. Learn from Others
Find others who have achieved a dream similar to yours, and learn from them however you can. For me books and podcasts have been a great resource to learn from others.
  5. Spend Quiet Time with Yourself to Cultivate Ideas and Reflect
It is absolutely crucial to spend quiet time with yourself to cultivate ideas and reflect. Get comfortable doing this, and you will reap the rewards from it.

My hope is that by reading this post your own dreams came to mind and that you feel inspired to start before you are ready.

  1. Those are a lot of great points! I undoubtedly believe in fate at times, but it also seems too easy to just accept what’s been given to us – as if our paths are already set in stone. I truly believe life is what you make it! Keep up the great work, Demie
