It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, of a very troublesome year for so many. In any ordinary year, I don’t get to see my family for every holiday. It is always hard, and I often reflect on past memories-especially ones while growing up. I don’t yet know what Christmas will look like, and that uncertainty can honestly unravel me. However, if I choose to practice gratitude no matter what I allow myself to focus on what I do have instead of what I don’t.
We’ve all heard something along the lines before that if we have a roof over our head and if we have food on our table we should be grateful. But are we really? I would say that we don’t pause and reflect on this often enough. We all have several things that are a part of our every day life that we are very grateful for, we just don’t take the time to think about it. Need I say that we may even take these things for granted? Honestly, we may.
When we are in a tough season of life, it can be very hard to want to practice gratitude. I think though that no matter what, we can be grateful-for at least something. What are you grateful for? There are a lot of people that believe in practicing gratitude, even daily such as writing in a gratitude journal. While I have yet to do this myself, I can’t help but believe too that this can be an impactful start or end to your day.
As we head into the end of 2020 and the heart of the holiday season, with uncertainty for me as well as others I am committing to practicing gratitude more and practicing gratitude no matter what. Here’s a few things on my heart right now that I am very grateful for.
- Technology so that I can communicate with friends and family often.
- The opportunity to do CrossFit for my physical and mental health.
- My home, where I enjoy spending quality time with Donnie and Rue.
What are three things that you are grateful for right now?
