It is a Monday morning, and you just want to fast forward to Friday. We’ve all had this thought before if we are honest. I’ve probably had this thought many times before, but I rarely think it now. Wanting to skip through 4 days every week, is skipping through a lot of your life. However, I do understand where this thought comes from because it is often our weekend hours where we get to spend time doing what we love most, being around the people we love most, resting, and relaxing.
We can do this during the work week, we mostly just choose not to. I’m no expert, as I am figuring things out myself too but we do have a choice with how we spend our time. You may be thinking, with a full work week of 40 hours or even more how is that possible? I’m definitely not saying don’t show up to work on a Wednesday! What I am saying is that if we all take a look at the hours in our week and where we allocate them to I bet we could find more time for what brings us the most joy.
The fact is we really should celebrate each and every day that we wake up, are healthy, and get to live out our day. Another day is never guaranteed, and we know this we just don’t act like we know this often enough. What has been working for me?
Take Time to Rest
Take a nap at the end of the day, go to bed at 7:30 pm if you want to, why not? I am all for rest and relaxation, and understand how vital adequate sleep is to our overall health and ability to stay healthy. Sometimes you just need to recharge, so you can get the most out of the rest of your week and be your best self. Prioritize this.
Make a Great Dinner
Have a great dinner in the middle of the week. I think it is sometimes easier to fly through the week scrambling around with what to do for dinner. With a little bit of planning though, a dinner that is often reserved for a Friday or Saturday night can be perfectly suited for a Wednesday night too.
Do Something For Yourself In The Morning
I find that I don’t have the best day when I am rushing out the door or to be ready to start my work day, and haven’t even had a minute to myself. I have found great joy in making time for reading in the morning or writing. If you start out your day with doing something for yourself, you will have an even better day. Before you start giving of yourself and your energy to others, do something to bring energy to you.
I will still celebrate and be happy about Fridays, and you should too. We should also celebrate a Monday though, and even a Wednesday. If we remain on autopilot mode until we get to Friday, we are doing ourselves a disservice and those we are closest to. So I challenge you, find something you can do this coming week, to be happier and enjoy the week more. And if you find yourself getting ready to say something negative when Monday rolls around, turn it into something positive and be grateful that you have a Monday.
In the Spirit of Adventure,
Demie
