I’ve been searching for so long for the best way to achieve my dreams and goals. I’ve pondered over habits, routines, and how to get myself to make the most progress. I haven’t ever really found what I was looking for but instead came to a realization. The best productivity hack is to just start. We can busy ourselves trying to chase perfection when the truth is small steps and actions toward our dreams and goals do add up!
I know I’m not the only person who has gotten so busy planning dreams and goals instead of getting busy doing things to get further toward those dreams and goals. We can think we’re making progress, when all we are really doing is thinking about making progress. This has absolutely been me, time and time again. So yes, I’m here to encourage you to start going further, the very name of this website and blog. It is the key to us doing what we really desire to be doing in life.
There is no perfect routine or recipe to us getting things done. Find what works for you, what is meaningful for you, and check in with yourself. Are you making progress as much as you are dreaming about or talking about making progress? I’ve said it before, but it’s the truth. No one is going to hold you accountable to your dreams. They are your dreams.
When it comes to writing, I’ve completely underestimated what small efforts can do for my progress. I’ve told myself that if I didn’t sit down to write for at least an hour, it wouldn’t be worth it. I’ve also complicated my podcast before, and didn’t allow myself to record shorter more simple episodes. I thought I needed to have at least a 30 minute podcast every week along with a detailed outline. I used to think that if I only had time to sit down and record one or two motivational video clips that wasn’t enough. I needed to only sit down and record when I could make several videos, and not just few.
All of this has only hindered my progress and my productivity. It is more important that we keep moving forward, instead of preoccupying ourselves with obsessing over the perfect moment. That moment will never come. So what is a small step that you can take? Where can you start going further in your own life and toward your dreams and goals?
