Time is something I ponder frequently. I’m always thinking about it, including the reality of our mortality. Time is what drives my motivation for everything in life. We know that our time on Earth won’t last forever—actually it all could end at any moment on any given day. So why don’t we act like it? This is what continues to puzzle me. It’s something I’m wrestling with in my mind almost constantly.
We complain about the littlest of things and take every special thing for granted. We don’t really take steps to work toward our biggest, most important goals—and we sit on our dreams for “another day”. The problem is, what if we don’t get that day in the future? What if that day never comes? What if we never take action on the things that matter? What if we don’t really live our life with gratitude and reverence for life itself? Dare I say, we risk missing or wasting it all?
Time is quite literally everything. How do you want to spend your one and precious life? This is why the words “Start Going Further” are so meaningful to me. Choosing to start going further means making sure that we don’t waste this one and precious life we have. We’re going further, in everything that we do. We’re mindful of the present moment and day that we’re in. We know that tomorrow isn’t promised, so we’re growing, changing, evolving now.
I think keeping mortality in mind is a healthy reminder to not waste any second of your life. I think consciously meditating on the reality that time is finite is a useful way to help ensure we’re not wasting any precious moments.
