Inspiration for Your 2022 Goals & Resolutions: Start Going Further Style

We’ve all been there. At the beginning of a new year, we are full of ambition and ready to go full steam ahead toward our goals and resolutions. Unfortunately, it usually doesn’t take long before everything falls apart and our goals and resolutions are suddenly out the window. “Oh well, we’ll try again next year” we may say to ourselves. Or worse, we may be completely oblivious to the fact that we’ve dropped the ball. January goes by, and February goes by, and maybe it’s already June and we’re not even close to doing anything that we said we wanted to do. This is why resolutions have such a bad reputation. I get this, and I’m not immune to it-but I still love goals and resolutions. That’s why in the past few years, I’ve been on a personal mission to figure out how to actually accomplish my New Year’s goals and resolutions.

I say personal mission, because I believe it’s different for everyone. “We’ve all got to find our unique recipe to slaying our New Year’s goals and resolutions.” Through my honest reflection, I hope to inspire you to Start Going Further for yourself in 2022.

I’m rather future-oriented. Okay really, I’m 100% future-oriented. I see it as a strength in many ways, but it does have some downfalls. When it comes to goals and resolutions, I tend to live in the future too much. Then as a result, I become preoccupied with truly never-ending to-do lists. I’ve realized that this has resulted in too much inaction. Self-awareness is key to making adjustments, remember that. How I am going to adjust in 2022 is strategically breaking down my goals and resolutions quarterly. I’m also going to implement a monthly review of my goals, so I can have an honest check in with myself.

I think accountability is powerful if we utilize it. David Goggins describes how to hold yourself accountable with “the accountability mirror”. I think we all know that relying on someone else to keep you accountable doesn’t work. You are in charge of your goals and resolutions. Use “the accountability mirror” by literally looking in the mirror and being 100% honest and transparent with yourself.

If you haven’t already done so, I want to encourage you to think through some goals and resolutions for the upcoming year. Be intentional in everything that you do and Start Going Further. Lastly, I hope to leave you with this motivation. I’ve been becoming more and more passionate about viewing time as a gift. We all have one life, with an expiration date that we’re not privy to. How exactly do we want to spend it?

Remember to LIVE your ADVENTURE.

See you later Going Further Fam! ✌️
